Soothing Sounds for Sleep (“we,” “us” or “our”) runs soothingsoundsforsleep.com (the “Site”) and the Soothing Sounds for Sleep YouTube channel. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Site, how we use it and the choices you have. We keep data collection to a minimum: the Site has no accounts, no advertising cookies and no analytics tracking.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Comments. If you leave a comment, we collect the name, email address and optional website you enter, the comment itself, your IP address and your browser’s user agent (to help stop spam). Your email address is never published.
- Emails. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs. Like nearly every website, our web host automatically records basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the page you requested and the date and time. These logs are used for security and to keep the Site running, and are kept only as long as our host retains them.
- Cookies. The Site itself only sets cookies that are needed for it to work, such as an optional cookie that remembers your comment details. See our Cookie Policy for details.
Embedded YouTube videos
Our videos are hosted on YouTube, which is owned by Google. Video players on the Site are embedded in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), which means YouTube does not store information about you to personalize your viewing experience unless you play the video. When you press play, YouTube may collect information about your viewing, set cookies or similar storage on your device, and connect the activity to your Google account if you are signed in. That information is handled by Google under the Google Privacy Policy, not by us.
YouTube API Services
The Site uses YouTube API Services to display information about our own videos, such as titles, descriptions, thumbnails and view counts. We do not use YouTube API Services to access, collect or store any information about you or your YouTube account. By watching our videos on the Site, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Google’s handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy. You can review and revoke third-party access to your Google account at any time on the Google security settings page.
Other third-party services
- Gravatar. If you leave a comment, a scrambled version of your email address (called a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service (owned by Automattic) to show your profile picture if you have one. See the Automattic Privacy Policy.
- Spam protection. Comments may be checked by Akismet, an automated spam-filtering service from Automattic.
- Fonts. Our font files may be delivered by Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the files load.

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising. We share information only with the service providers listed above, when the law requires it, or to protect our rights and the safety of others.
How long we keep information
Approved comments and their details are kept so the conversation stays intact, unless you ask us to remove them. Emails are kept only as long as needed to respond and keep a record of the conversation.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to see, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, such as a comment you left. Depending on where you live, including California, Colorado, Virginia, Utah, the European Union and the United Kingdom, you may have additional rights under local privacy laws, such as the right to know what we collect, to have it deleted and to object to certain uses. Children’s privacy
The Site is meant for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
The Site uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and we take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed.
